People make fun of Shadow because he'd edgy in a dumb way. Ever seen that scene where he compares stealing an emerald to taking candy from a baby? That's a great example of how dark can be stupid. There's nothing serious or badass about that comment, it's just cartoonish.
Isn't that enough? Here's another example from pic-related: Marvel's Ultimatum.
The comic is considered edgy because of the gore and deaths, but thing is, most of those deaths made no sense. Characters were just killed for the sake of it, and don't even get me started on how they began to die (magnetism doesn't create tidal waves). The fact that this thing merely existed to kill characters like crazy is why no one likes it.
Perhaps now you will stop projecting your dumb fantasies about people who don't like something you do.
