I'm not at the post game yet but I feel like all of Necrozma's stuff would be better off as postgame content to really let the effort put into SM's story and world building shine. Even Mina's trial seemed pretty out of place and battling the captains could make for a great post game side quest. But that's just my perspective on how being introduced to her instead of the Chief of the village doesn't make Poni look as isolated (notice the cutscene where you meet Mina is the same as with the Chief. Really seems like Mina is just tacked on like everything else new in the story). Also I don't like how the Recon Squad butts in the canyon scene where it's supposed to be you, Lillie, and Hapu having a moment and all growing together as children into bigger roles (Hapu's grand trial makes her a kahuna, Lillie learns to be braver, you do... whatever). And the Hapu leaves in the oroginal allowing you and Lillie to take on what is essentially Victory Road. But i USUM everyone is just standing there beneath the tree and gives off a totally different vibe which makes the moment feel off and not as a beginning to the climax like with Hapu acknowledging your role as the Mc and leaving the screen to make you take it all in with just Lillie by your side.
