Doc Brock was a good filler. Ash and Dawn are left in charge of a random cabin they shanghaied in the mountains and basically played house, while Brock was off to get medicine. Also a Zapdos appeared. That was cool.
I really wanted them to lean more into the domestic sitcom tropes they seemed to be pointing towards. They had Ash be the dumb/incompetent/lazy dad, while Dawn was the housekeeping mom figure, even with a bit of Dawn laying into him for falling asleep on the couch. I wish they had taken it just a bit further; have Dawn smack Ash over the head with a rolling pin, have them discuss how to discipline Bunneary for dressing up like a slut to school, and have Ash complain about a fat woman walking into the shoe store that day. Shit would be so cash.
