It's a game about connecting with wild creatures you find, but most of your exploration is done via a bike, or one specific Pokemon that's not of your choosing. Even Let's Go lets you ride a variety of fun & interesting Pokemon to go about your day.
I'd probably like some experimentation with actually fighting Pokemon with the trainer, rather than only with his Pokemon. Legends Arceus toyed with it, by... throwing stinky bags or something, but Sinnohs most famous ancient legend is about one guy finding a sword & cutting down almost every Pokemon in the region. This would also be within the confine of the standard Pokemon JRPG battle-system, and not real-time like Legends Arceus. Sorta like a mega-move or a Z move or something.
