Does anyone know where/when the idea of "family/clan secrets" came up/became popular in pokemon fanfics?
I've read a couple stories now (usually SIs) set in a pokemon world where some knowledge about pokemon, typically involving evolution or the use of stones therein, is either not well known by the general populace or even deliberately hidden from them by those that do known
Now I can see where such an idea could have come from as it smacks more than a little of the various clan techniques and the like from Naruto, and I could even see it fitting into a more "real" pokemon setting quite well. With the means to power in pokemon that common place and decentralized, who wouldn't want to safeguard the knowledge that allowed their own rise to power?
Does anyone know where this particular plot device might have first appeared in pokemon fanfics?
