I remember Charizard actually having some kind of character arc. He always acted like an obnoxious asshole, but gets beat down by stronger pokemon. He even tries fitting in with the other Charizards but gets humiliated. Then he cries and Ash leaves him there to get stronger. Now he's out there still training while helping out his boy once in a while.
