Multipliers are ALWAYS more important than raw base stats. A Life orb? easily worth more than 40 base stat points, often more. a Choice item or a boosting move? gives you a massive boost. Genesect's download basically turned its 120 attack and special attack into fucking roughly 192 base offences.
And lets not forget the importance of base power of the moves themselves. They're directly proportional to damage output. a pokemon using an 80bp move is only doing 2/3s the damage they're doing with a 120bp move. Talonflame has 81 base attack, and has the strongest priority in the game because of bravest bird.
