Banning single to achieve perfect balance Pokemon doesn't really reflect the nature of the game very well. Sure, banning mega milf is perfectly sensible, it itself is destructive. But you would never seen any kind of banning of fully defensive Pokemon, no matter how overpowerering defensive teams get. You could neverjustfy banning something like Chansey to smogon because by itself it's easy to counter, but the sum of the parts of a stall team exceed the individual value of each mon. A stall team of 4 mons is easily beaten, because no 4 mons can counter most of the meta, but 6 can.
Stall really isn't overpowered, which is why it always avoid a nerf. You can simply slap heracross or something on your team and trounce the opponent, but what fun is that? How is that a good metagame where you have to sacrifice a teamslot for something that is shit outside demolishing certain teams. All that comes from that metagame is a bunch of offense players with no stallbreaker that automatically lose to stall, but automatically win agaisnt offense that sacrifices resources to beat stall, the correlary bunch of stall players fishing for easy prey too.
That's why singles is shit, at least right now. It's just a bunch of archetypes fishing for favourable match ups. Not fun one bit.
