No apologist, but there's definitely something more going on. If they're just doing the same 3 year dev cycle, what are the other teams working on? Usually there'd be concurrent projects to get a yearly release (or add-on to existing via DLC). Nothing else on the horizon we know of. Something must be kept quiet at the moment, but what it is and if its a good or bad thing is just not know.
