>>55211975>But if they sprinkled in some new pokemon in every spinoff like legends maybe, 10-20 new pokemon each game. It would keep people distracted.I don't even think they need to do that right now. If Let's Go didn't exist and they decided they were going to make this big, open world remake of Kanto with the original 151 and introduce some new gameplay features (Eggs you can find in the wild, customized Pokemon mounts, a bunch of side quests, etc) similar to Legends, I think people would eat it up. We've seen that people accept dexcuts, so they'll accept remakes where only the Pokemon that were in those games are available.
It's weird, GameFreak both under and overvalues Pokemon. They undervalue it in the sense that they THINK audiences are going to riot if we don't get a new dex, a new region, a new gimmick. But they also overvalue it in the sense where they can ship unfinished garbage and know the fanbase will buy it-- and they do, but imagine how much MORE Scarlet/Violet would've made if it actually performed well. Or imagine how much MORE BDSP would've made if it was actually this new remake instead of just some crappy remaster. I definitely skipped out on BDSP because I thought to myself, "I still have Diamond", I have to assume I'm not alone.
