>>38043008ice should resist ground and water
bug should resist fairy
fairy should lose its bug resist
steel should lose its psychic resist
ice should lose its fight weak
theres still a few notable problems after doing all this:
poison is still dogshit offensively
rock is still dogshit defensively
normal is still a terrible stab
grass and bug are still a joke
but its hard to fix more without creating further problems and just shifting around what the shitty types are, theres not a lot of wiggle room without creating a new type
and if a new type were to exist, it would probably need to be
>2x against steel and itself, to prevent defensive steel synergy like what happened with fairy>1/2x against weak defensive types like ice, rock, grass, bug>take se half from weak offensive types like psychic, normal, bug, grass, and half from already strong but underutilized coverage types like electric, dark, water>resist excessively strong offensive types like fairy, flying, ghost, groundthe problem that arises is pretty clear: youre effectively making another overpowered type, just like fairy, by giving them niche weaknesses and extremely strong upside against omnipresent threats (namely steels)
and the further you drift away from this idea the more you reinforce the strength of already strong types while shitting on those already marginalized
if you can find a solution to all of that, then a new type would be a good thing, otherwise just utilizing what room already exists to make universally beneficial changes would be good enough
