In reality, raising a pokemon properly would be a bitch that would cripple you financially and take up the entirety of your freetime. It would be nice to live alongside them, but you wouldn't want to own one (or more) unless you're ready for some serious commitment. Everyone thinks they're going to raise their favorite mons just like they do in-game, but when you think it through realistically, most people would have to settle for having a pet Zigzagoon or other Normal-Type.
