>>43881886So I've had great memories in VGC tournaments, and the main reason I keep coming back to them.
>ORAS League I got 52nd place in the Athens regionals. Really, any regional that requires travel and a hotel are fun as fuck with 1-3 other friends also going for it. Hope to go to Nats or Worlds someday just for the experience>Same ORAS league, fought Wolfe Glick at a PC at some Freddy Fazbear-esque pizzareia arcade in bumfuck Virginia. Used a gimmicky Round strat team centered around using M Glalie and Sylveon. Lost in brackets, faced again in top cut and was only 1 move away from getting a win off him (if only I had time to breed HP Ground instead of settling for Water Pulse I would have taken his Heatran out). We talked a little bit after, he gave me some pointers and we added each other on Facebook. Just felt good to talk to a big name like that. >Winning my first PC, especially when I was in the finals with an asshole I haven't seen again for years>I played a kid at a Midseason Showdown (slightly bigger PC) because there were no other junior competitors for him to play. I creamed him game 1, and went a little easier game 2. Afterwards I talked with him about his team as his dad and brother came up. I gave them all good advice on learning resources for VGC and even gave the kid some Gmax Pokemon he didn't have. Ran into the family later at another tournament and he happily thanked me for my help, said he's been getting a lot better. Fucking warmed my heartSo yeah they can be amazingly fun and exciting, but I honestly recommend the adventure as best with good friends. If one's in your town go check it out but I wouldn't drive more than an hour to go alone.
Pic related is a better distance comparison, as I realized the last pic was too generous of spacing at these tables. Shit takes place 99% of times at comic book shops after all.
