>>37259997>The only rep there should be in the game is Pikachu.False. It should be Pikachu + Pokemon Trainer. Pikachu because he's the fucking mascot, and Pokemon Trainer because he best represents what the franchise is all about. That is literally great Gen 1 representation already, so the tough part would be to choose two or three newer Gen Pokemon to rep the series history. I think the ideal case would be:
>DeoxysNot only would he be an actual popular Gen 3 Rep, but he'd also fulfill the legendary role that Mewtwo would no longer be doing. Also has potential for a creative moveset with the transition between all his forms.
>An Ultra BeastHere i am a bit unsure as to which Ultra Beast could be the best fit for the game, but given that they're unique monsters and the flagpoles of Gen VII i feel like they could best rep the newest Generation. Pheromosa/Buzzwole are arguably the most fitting ones. Someone on /v/ posted a neat Buzzwole moveset that involved Buzzwole strating off skinny and having a command grab that sucks blood from the opponent, buffing him in terms of resistance and overall damage and knockback. I'll see if i can find the post for the whole specifics, but it made me want to see it in action.
>Lucario/GreninjaNot a fan of these two, but they are definitely the most popular modern pokemon so inevitably we'd get at least one of them. I personally find luke boring as shit to play as (same with Mewtwo, really), but he's a crossover fave, so whatever. I like Greninja a bit better, but i find his Smash representation a bit generic. I'd be more than OK with him as a solo fighter if they did interesting things with him, like implementing Protean in some way, Change the way substitute works to resemble the Pokemon game a bit more or have him be able to retract his tongue and give him long distance melee attacks with it, maybe even a tether grab.
That's good representation and leaves space for future additions.
