Like, they're both super easy but fun, they constantly reuse things from the old games with only slight changes but it's enough to make the new games enjoyable, they both have simple stories with more interesting lore just below the surface, and they both have just enough of a difficulty curve to turn fun into challenge by the end (for Pokemon it's via online/battle facility while Kirby it's stuff like True Arena).
They're pretty much following the same philosophies, it's just Kirby is a comfy platformer while Pokemon is a comfy RPG.
