ITT post the super secret info you learned from your uncle's sister who works as an intern at nintendo
>Chespin's evolutions actually stay away from the "mean"/"scary"/"tough" thing most fully evolved Dark types go for and stays reasonably cute. Head spikes slant downwards, gains a single prominent horn kind of like Heracross. Little grabby hands, long "plated"-looking tail.
>Froakie's evolutions are tall and gangly, mostly humanoid with a little "scarf" of bubbles around the neck/mouth. Limbs are stretchy, learns Karate Chop on first evolution.
>Fennekin stays quadruped and mixes traits from lots of canids and felines. Think Johto beast levels of indeterminate species. Very graceful, tail doesn't change much but it gets more elaborate fur scruffs around its head and chest as well as comically overfluffed inner ear things (way bigger than the ears themselves) and pointed fur on its feets.
>All three starters learn a dual-typed attack on final evolution matching their own type. Chespin's final evo gets a Grass/Dark physical Thief clone with boosted power, Fennekin's gets what looks like a wibbly psychic Heat Wave and Froakie's is a "wave punch" that I THINK is a reference to all those martial arts movies where the fighters use philosophy styles and stuff.
>Fletchling and Vivillion both have counterparts, Fletchling's being a pure Flying 3-stage "traditional" early bird line and Vivillion's being a Bug-Bug-Bug/Ground line. Flying birds are based on bluejays and learn a new Flying/Water attack to contrast Heat Wave, which is now Flying/Fire and learned by Talonflame. Ground bugs are Diglett-ish in that you never see all of them but seem to be based on crustaceans mixed with mounds of dirt.
