>>48060244In defense of the naysayers here, when they talk about relying too much on Kanto 99% of the time people are talking about the POKEMON distribution, not the region. They're more miffed that there're a fuck ton of tentacool and magikarp running wild in Johto's lakes than there are chinchou and marill. Which is understandable, I think there should generally be more new pokemon encounters than old, but it is a bit petty.
The SS Aqua also isn't a valid point against these people, because it's not available until borderline postgame and even then is reliant on daily rotations, so it's not exactly a reliable exp farm. Besides, it's a daily event, meaning it can only be done once a day, making it even more unreliable for grinding.
Other than on those two points I agree with you, a lot of this newfound hatred is reactionary and overblown due to how furiously the fandom sucked HGSS' dick for the last year and how prices to actually play the games skyrocketed in response. There's also just the general genwar shit perpetuating the endless hatred, but that goes for every generation- not just gen 2. hopefully this shitstorm of constant crying tantrums ends soon, I just want to find a quiet pokemon forum to chill with some bros in and that seems nigh impossible to find right about now.
