>>49584720I don't think I was particularly bothered by it. IIRC, I looked at gen 1 and 2 as two halves of a single story, and saw R/S as a 'brand new' story with entirely new characters. They were almost entirely disconnected from the previous games, which was something I actually liked because I realised that it gave them more freedom to be creative instead of having to make sure everything lined up perfectly with the rest.
I was more annoyed by the anime seemingly just booting only Misty off the show for no reason instead of doing the sensible thing and just not have Ash be the protagonist in Hoenn. Yes, I'm a Mistyfag, and YES, I'm STILL mad about it.
