The point is, you're not exactly prime material to go around telling Midoro what he should and should not be thinking. If anything, he should be able to think for himself, and one could argue that he does to an extent, but all he thinks about doing is getting his father's attention.
You're unable to sway your little apprentice into your mindset if he's still thinking thoughts like that. Rather, the best approach here would be to 'show, not tell'. Kids can't be expected to listen and care for a lengthy exposition condensed into a block of text. On the other hand, they'll more than happily accept things they've seen at face value.
Exposing the secrets of Phil'erup's politicians will be what'll change his mind. For the time being, you give him a delicate pat on the head. "I'm not entirely sure, but I am getting a little tired of being wrangled around all the time, especially by a character of the week."
"Huh?" he cocks his head.
"Nothing. Don't worry. I'll go take you to see your dad right now, where might we find him?"
He probably should be worried, but you're no better with a scared child than you are with a worried one.
Your inquiry fortunately breaks Midoro's concern and shifts him back to a happy-go-lucky hyper bundle of joy. "Oh oh! I know! I know!" he beams. "It's um, it's the afternoon right!? He's at town hall doing grown-up stuff! Yeah!"
"Mind showing me there?"
"Not one fiddlebit! Let the GREAT EXPLORER LEAD THE WAY! Ba-da-da-duuuum! Kapow!"
