Voidore swipes paint all over his canvas, in three slashing strokes, "Oh, ho, ho! Is that so? That's rather ironic. And here you are, all out on a journey regardless of your initial intentions. What made you change your mind? Friends? Family? You didn't think you were going to get homesick after all?"
Serena reflects back on those times, in which she was quite an indecisive person who had trouble making certain choices, "There was more than one reason, but I guess the biggest was because...I never really had a childhood to be honest, so I was never really sure what was beyond the boundaries of my home, I wasn't let out often. I was mostly training--no, no, I was /always/ training."
The beagle looks up from canvas, "Training for what?"
"Nothing in particular, just in general toughening up. I...I remember my father, not too long before he left us, he would often talk about my progress, he was never really satisfied. He was always looking forward to being the father of a baby boy, but as you can see, that just didn't happen. He made do with what he had,"
A pause follows as Serena stares out into the light, breezy autumnal sky. Nostalgia, even in the worst possible sense, is still nostalgia nevertheless, "it's rather silly when you think about it. I eventually got over thinking it was a terrible idea, I studied more, learned how to multitask, enriched my mind by engaging it in several trivial matters, and here I am now."
"I wish he were still here, I wonder if he would be proud of me now."
