In another post I mentioned a new battle mechanic that would add further variety to battles - Terrain effects. Basically, pokemon types and certain pokemon moves would be boosted or weakened based on the Terrain a pokemon battle is set in.
Examples of Terrain include grass, ocean, swamp, forest, mountain, SKY, underground/cave, etc.
Terrain refers to the land you are battling on -weather is a completely separate battle effect.
What types of Terrain would you include in a new pokemon game? What would be the effects of these terrains on a pokemon battle?
