As an author and creator the idea of changing what I want so that more people will consume it is ridiculous especially if I have to alter the plot/setting for it. It's one thing to shift who a character winds up with romantically if chemistry winds up being better with another as the story progresses, it's an entirely different thing to add in an aspect into a story because it's popular and you want more people to read it. Stop chasing trends.
If you write a fantasy story in a medieval setting and then add in an isekai protagonist for no reason other than it draws viewers it's not worth adding in the first place.
