If you don't pretend not to know any pokemon other than Charizard, Pikachu and (very important you get this one right) Butterfly you will immediately be written off as lower on the social hierarchy.
Once you're ingrained withing the social circle you can more casually talk about other pokemon with your 'friends' as long as you don't get too autistic, only mention current shillmons or Kanto classics.
