>>34280816I realise I completely forgot to mention gen 7 removes the National Dex, locking it behind a paid service.
Also, USM's O-powers are based in RNG. Joy.
So seeing as I've touched on most of the important aspects of this shitheap, what ARE these games good at?
Trainer customisation is still a thing, I'd say they're even slightly improved.
While the new batch of Pokémon is still small, overall I'd say they're more interesting than gen 6's and even 4's, so it has that going for it at least.
The characters are more gen 5 styled, where their entire lives don't revolve around being cooped up in their place of relevance. NPCs often also have interesting things to say for once, the dialogue in general has been improved for everyone in gen 7.
Champion rematches have been improved in that you are the one challenged, though it works basically the same until you reach the Champion room. At least you don't have to view the credits each time.
Rainbow Rocket, while short and MORE wasted potential, does bring some amusing exchanges from past evil team leaders.
Does any of this salvage these games?
No.
Fuck gen 7.
