>>47282090I always thought it was funny how every single other trainer, who are supposed to be Ash's peers, were visible throughout the movie with teams that absolutely mogged his. They all had full teams of fully evolved mons while Ash still had a bunch of first forms and Charizard. It was absolute wank when he beat Raymond (who had a hype-filled moment where Donphan is shown for the first time, though the hype is quickly killed when his Donphan jobs to Ash's Bulbasaur) early in the film.
The movie wouldn't probably had more room to be good if it wasn't forced to share continuity with an anime series that is completely devoid of an arc or progression for the main character. As silly as it might sound, there's only so much suspension of disbelief I can muster even in a movie about laser-shooting animals. God I fucking hate how Ash is handled.
