Even from the start most shinies were shit and lazy, and were only made because they HAD to. You know the ones, they are just pink, or yellow, or green, or something even worse, a slightly different shade of their base color. The type where if it were not for the shiny animations you would not be able to tell. Teddiursa line pre PLA and most of the Eevee evolutions are prime examples.
Some are lazy but still are ok. Quigsire and pic related are examples. They just happen to look good and "feel" like they "make sense".
There are a select few that "feel" like they designed the shiny form. Charizard, Ursaluna, and Emboar are the ones that come to mind.
