Magearna could've prefectly been an artificial pokemon like magnezone metagross, etc. Its basically just a klinklang that instead of having a poor design, has a good conceptual execution, along with a cooler typing. I'm sure many people like magearna, and would've preferred it having slightly lower stats just to be able to use it on their pokemon adventures.
You can't just make anything legendary, pokemon like mew, mewtwo and many box legends, actually feel legendary. Something like zarude or glastrier doesn't. Just a simian and an ice rapidash.
