As long as she acts like a submissive beta around Ash, she will be disliked unless the anime change her personality to a strong girl who does not hesitate to bicker with Ash like Misty, May, Dawn, Angie, Iris etc etc. I have seen many characters that are passive but not submissive such as Alice (Bakugan), Nanaka (Grand Blue) and Yumemi (Munto).
I wonder the kiss and Lisia can be used as plot device to change Serena's Character by insisting that Serena thrown away her submissive self by kissing Ash while Lisia influenced her into being more playful.
