Almost kicked the Pokemon addiction after Ruby but my younger brother pestered me until I was back in with Pearl. Ultimately still enjoyable so I don't regret it.
Cute Pokegirls are nice but the main appeal of the series for me is looking over the new Pokemon and then making a team centered around my new starter of choice. Playing through the story and becoming champion; then transferring in my bros from the previous games so they can be champs there too. Which is why Pokemon SwSh are the worst games in the series and I refuse the buy the DLC. Using my lvl 99 original Pokemon Pearl team to rematch the Sinnoh E4 and Cynthia in Shining Pearl so they can become lvl 100 and defend their championship ~14 years later is my kind of Pokemon kino.
