So we've recovered from the near-wipe against Cyrus. Poor Starman saw his pals go up the mountain and never come back.
I ended up using rare candies to get everyone to level 39, which is what Krisskross was at when I caught her, then levelled up the rest of the levels normally. Guess my punishment is encountering a shiny magnemite just after grinding Electivire and just before switching to physical consoles agains for BW(2).
Our new friends are Slip the Quagsire because water-ground is amazing, Yeti the Abomasnow with the amazing combination of Snow Warning and Blizzard but who Occa berry, Krisskross the Electivire because we didn't have enough electric immunities yet and Feverish the Magmortar to avenge the death of my Magmar against the E4 in SS (and who needs a better move than confuse ray).
Half the team is immune to electric so Sunnyshore was barely a speedbump. Funny how Volkner talked about enjoying the battle when all that happened was Kite using Earthquake four times in a row. Next up, Victory Road.
