finished. wouldve been easier doing the "repel until legendary bird" strat i assume plagues this game but still managed in less than 12 hours. this was with the mistake of having battle animations on. i had a couple insurance policy pokemon; nidorino, victreebel, gyarados, in case something went wrong. the only premature death was my first snorlax, who literally JUST started battling when he died to a 5-hit fury attack from dodrio that went critical on hit number 1. leaving you with an effective base power of 225 i think. he was the best mon that could go because he had an identical replacement and the person hes named after is literally larry jr. not even any of my various bird/bug meat shields died.
second death sucked. dugtrio got unlucky against the champions arcanine. almost lost larry jr to his alakazam next but he lived by 3 hp. most of the fun for me in this challenge was trying to create certainty in a challenge that emphasized randomness. aside from the above example of course, legendaries seem dumb for this kinda thing (even though in the OG nuzlocke guys comic his newest run has a mystery gift legendary in it). well, its done. in order of usefulness of my 5 attackers its gotta be
blastoise>haunter=jolteon>dugtrio=snorlax
obv blastoise owned the early game, and stab thunderbolt is one of the best things in this game aside from stab psychic, but man haunter surprised me with how much weight he pulled. he fucked koga, erika, bruno, the entire fighting gym, and more all by himself. i felt like trading was fucking cheating so i kept him a haunter, which is fine, i was always a faggot who thought haunter looked cool anyways.
