I overcame the infamous Dragon Rage using Axew, and beat Grant with very little issues thanks to my two starters having a type advantage. Everything seemed easy and I was getting confident, however one random Team Flare battle took me by surprise. He had a level 23 Golbat my team just wasn't ready for after going through route 10. It shredded through three of my party members, two of which were high level. I lost a recently captured Mienfoo, my designated fire type, and a starter. My team was just too weak to handle a bulky flying type at the time.
This is a real bummer, losing your starter is not only awkward in and of itself, but I lost a grass type that was not only bulky but carried me through some noteworthy killers. It's gonna be tough to recover from here.
