>>40726523>You should read it if you have patienceWell I'm still going through but I want to see the idea of a Gardevoir whose psychic powers influence and change her trainer explored further. How much is okay? Is it selfish? How do the trainers friends and relatives react? How drastic might the changes be? Ect.
As well, the Speech TM has me thinking to some videos on language I watched recently. Hellen Keller was born blind and deaf and couldn't speak at all, in any form, until her late teens, I think. She wrote a book about it later in life and described how her mind worked differentely before she actually learned language. She was conscious then, but I got the impression (from the lecture I watched) that almost like she was a different person. Got me thinking about how much language affects the conscious mind.
So, in the story Pokemon have their own language they use with each other but the Speech TM lets them talk like people. However I think it'd be interesting in another story to have non Speech Pokemon not have a language. More like animals, perhaps their consciousness being more of a dream. Then they learn language and start becoming different being all together.
Of-course the story also raises a lot of the issues around slavery. Granting Pokemon legal status isn't that easy and a lot of forces and interests are against it. It IS true that humans need Pokemon for protection from other Pokemon. However with the speech TM it is becoming more and more obvious that they are people and not animals, with less fortunate Pokemon being slaves.
