>>58445350Editing black characters skintone white to cause ‘seethe’ has lost a lot of teeth. It still has people biting, of course, but what will REALLY cause an upset within the fandom is some well intentioned Japanese artist drawing Jacinthe with the wrong skintone, it gets called out by an English speaker, and then the rest is history. And I’ve already seen one Japanese fanart with Jacinthe looking real pale gray (pic unrelated, this is an uncolored fanart done by an Indonesian artist). I’ve also seen English complaints about pale Canari art.
Honestly, I don’t like wrong skin tone fan art either. But the benefit of both knowing how to edit, and being a person who uses 4chan is that I can just edit other people’s art for personal use, repost on 4chan if I want to share it with others, and not cause a massive internet drama that has lasting impacts on fandom and international otaku relations LMAO
