Personally I've always hated the notion that pokemon should be just fantasy animals with some twigs or fire pasted on them. These are always the weakest designs to me, Ponyta sucks, Duckling sucks, so on so forth. Naturally, there's a few exceptions here or there but I've always preferred pokemon that look like they could be kaiju, not just from Godzilla, but even goofier shit like ultraman or super sentai or what have you. In some regard a few of the human-like pokemon don't bother me, like Incineroar is furry-bait on paper, but his personality of being a heel seems like it'd fit right in with being on a saturday morning sentai show. The furbait I have more issue with is shit like Lucario/Zoroark/Zerora or whatever it's called. They're just designed to be lithe cool sparkledogs, that bores the piss out of me and the association of people jerking off to it is harder to remove.
