Personally when I first started working on Ming-Ming, I went with a core of 3 Pokemon (Arcanine, Espeon, Vibrava), which over time has changed quite a bit from her first incarnation.
Maybe an ace Pokemon could help, maybe just a group of Fun Favorites your OC likes, there's no need to rush. Just go with what feels right to you, no pressure!
