Other then it being cozy it has the same feel of Old anime, it's simple in good way without looking like trash, it looks old but not outdated, like gen 1 looks pretty gross to me, but gen 2 blends it all in a way that still pleasing in most cases, along with culture of the region, Kanto was like Kanto in name only it felt like, but Johto feels more lived in, Yokai watch gave me this same feeling when also going through the map as well, I wish more pokemon games felt like this, the level of personality GSC has pretty great for what is a gameboy game.
I support anons making GSC rom hacks, feel the most fun to play, and seeing all the quality of life changes in them makes the experience feel whole.
