Platinum is still my favourite. Largest and most "open" region (it actually felt like an open world, at least more so than the likes of Unova, thanks to lots of routes crossing), most content, highest Pokemon catchable on a single game to total national Pokedex size at the time ratio, interesting story since it started introducing the bigger stuff, I liked the mythological/god Pokemon, some awesome evolutions and some great new Pokemon. HGSS was a mix of GSC and Platinum so was great too.
BW doesn't even come close to Pt/HGSS in content or region design.
BW2 at least took a step in the right direction but didn't surpass Pt/HGSS.
XY have the same content problem BW had, but it gets somewhat of a free pass for being so much of an overhaul for a lot of the game (especially visually). While BW was literally just a polished Pt/HGSS in terms of presentation.
