Know that Hoenn is better than Johto but Johto is where Ash kicks Gary's ass in the league.
Battle Frontier was good and it features the few times were Ash actually uses a competent rotating team, but they revisit Kanto and do absolutely nothing interesting with that.
Diamond & Pearl was better than both Johto and Hoenn and anything that came after.
XY started out good but it shat itself so badly later on that even the first half of the series became tainted and the shipping faggotry is even more obnoxious here.
Alola is 90% mindless cute filler but if you just want to watch the pokemon equivalent of a not boring version of K-On then knock yourself out, but skip the cringy league and super sentai bullshit.
Journeys lacks direction and is fucking gay unless but you might enjoy the Leon vs Ash shit if you're one of those power level faggots who just wants to see Ash become the strongest of them all in a rather forced event but it has some nice fantasy reunion sequences and real reunions after that.
Black & White unfortunately exists. Only entertaining thing about it is watching Team Rocket act out of character and become competent for once before reverting back to being after an earthquake in Japan resulted in Black & White abandoning their Team Plasma arc.
