>>51132163True, it was very hard to balance since it's hard to balance even normal mons, probably impossible to not have 50%+ pickrate abominations. But then again, the fact they just throw gimmicks out the window once they are done, and seem to create them based more and more on how easy they are to make is pretty baffling. There are many ways to approach these problems, maybe balancing broken megas - and we know they balance shit sometimes tho from what I've seen it's very arbitrary - and then adding more megas to add variety, or some other gimmicks and creating a more dynamic meta with them all, or wipe the slate and create a new gimmick like terastal but with some actual thought and effort put into it, witch would also probably be the best choice.
I have to agree with your sentiment but the reason many people like megas is that there was something there with the animations, the designs, the models: the impression was that it was something they would iron out and would be the new thing for a couple generations, and some of that carries over to this day. Instead, every new gen they just throw old stuff away and make a new lower quality gimmick. If they did something like terastal with actual effort then yeah I'd accept it no problem, but as it stands it's unbearably lazy. It's easy to forget but this is basically the largest franchise period, the amount of issues is unacceptable.
I also don't want to assume too much how it will change the meta yet, and tho I hope it at least makes it more dynamic we don't know if it will push more mons into viability or just buff the strong ones even more and create a similar situation, since there are still unkown factors about typing and the strength of the buff itself
