Alright, I've done up placeholders for Route 5 and Route 6 and put them on this cropped mini-map. The full map can be found on Dropbox, here:

Keeping this in mind, I designed it so that, while the path lurches from left to right, there is a single row of tiles which goes all the way from Alice Springs to Route 5 (adjacent to Darwin) without any interruptions. Should keep the breeders happy.
