I realized he was right. Gen2 was fun and going back to Kanto was cool. But then you are better off playing gen1. Going back to Kanto groomed you into thinking the game is improving on the first game. It is mostly worse versions of the same shit.
Better starters including Charizard? Go back to gen1. Safari Zone with rare Pokemon? Not in gen2 at all. If you want to go to Kanto, just pop in the old RBY cart and you get a way better Kanto. If you want to raise mons, may as well fight the Elite Four in Gen1 or use missingno. Mewtwo and the birds? Guess which gen. Game Corner is in both and Pokemon Stadium 2 helps with the lack of endgame, but gen1 had it first anyway.
As for the level curve. why is everything so WEAK?
The wild mons? Weak.
The new Pokemon? Weak.
Elite Four? Weaker than gen1 and worse for grinding levels.
Bug Catching? Poor mans Safari Zone.
They keep Route 1 Pidgey at level 2 for authenticity, but fill Victory Road with shitty Gravellers 8 levels lower. The Unknown Dungeon was added back in HGSS but it has lower levels than in RB too. For some fucking reason (Masuda: haha I don't really know)
tldr ITS SHIT. Come home to gen1 nostalgiafaggots, because everything in gen2 is a shittier version of the first game. EVEN TEAM ROCKET HAS NO NAMED NPCS AND THE FINAL ADMIN HAS 3 KOFFINGS OR SOME GARBAGE.
