Chess and Pokemon (and any other turn based game, really) really on a basic principle - outplaying your opponent, as opposed to sheer luck based games (such as Rock/Paper/Scissors). For every single move you make toward victory, your opponent gets to do the same. You can't win games in pokemon by always throwing out a Setup Sweeper in the beginning, can you? This is because your opponent predicts what you are doing, and moves to counter.
In the same way, Chess is not about blitzing your pieces across the board, but instead slowly picking at your foe's cornerstones and counters all the while attempting to guess at and disrupt his plans.
>>22552149Really? So you've never moved a Knight to place an enemy piece in danger, in order to hopefully sac your own piece and gain the upperhand in board layout? Or alternatively, left a Bishop purposefully in danger so that your Queen may take it's killer, giving you a Piece advantage?
"There is no prediction in chess but there is in Pokemon" is literally one of the most ignorant things about the game I've ever heard in my life.
