You mentionned Mime but that's not comparable at all even after all the nerfs, he is the better cc support and he has actual bulk to stay in the fight, the invisibility supposed to compensate sableye's bulk is a small nuisance at best now considering its impact in a teamfight. Mime can actually carry a team, hell pretty much every support can outside of Clefable from what I experienced. That frail cc support archetype doesn't really work in its actual state, it needs fixing but it shouldn't be a pseudo-assassin again.
If you do think you can make it work in its actual state then I'm all ear for you reasoning, simply saying that it requires """more work""" isn't enough.
