Personally, Emily thinks it's a crock of shit and that it's beneath her. Not in the "she's too good to ever have a rival" but more in that she follows the mantra of "You owe it to yourself to be great at something. No one's gonna push you to do that but yourself." She simply does not believe a rival is NEEDED in order to be pushed to improve-- and that if one cannot simply push THEMSELVES to do it, the facilitation of such through a rival is shallow and misguided because the moment you either surpass that rival or they exceed you entirely-- you lose all purpose because you have no direction or motivation of your own.
