I have a story. It's rather long, but I'd like to tell it. Its about my first Nuzlocke Run, and quite possibly the best bro I've ever had.
This was my first Nuzlocke run. I chose Mudkip as my starter. After a bit of grinding and wandering around the countyside, I managed to scrape a decent team together. There were a few setbacks, since we killed a couple pokemon instead of catching them. But overall, it went pretty well. We went through the first three gym leaders without suffering a loss, but that was not to last.
My team was made up of my starter, now a Marshtomp named Vargas, Olaf the Loudred, Klaus the Mightyena, Petey the Swellow, and a little Numel named Dewey.
Dewey was merely filler. I had trained him a bit, but he was simply there to round out my team. The next gym leader was Flannery, so I didn't expect to get much use out of a Careful Numel. A fire type wasn't that useful to me at the stage.
I spent the afternoon grinding a few levels, before heading in to the gym. Flannery's gym always creeped me out, for some reason. It was always so difficult to see through all the steam, and the trainers could ambush you at any moment. Nevertheless, I went in, slowly working my way through the labyrinth of smog.
I was well stocked with potions and burn heals, but I could never have been prepared for what I found inside. By the first trainer, I had lost my starter. My beloved Marshtomp went down to a critical hit before he could use a single move. With my type advantage gone, my defeat was inevitable. Pokemon after pokemon went down, until I was left with Petey, Dewey, and an untrained Slakoth I grabbed from my box. Flannery was next.
