Incineroar makes a lot more sense as a sabertooth tiger the way people justify Chesnaught as a version of those glyptodonts or whatever. Hilariously, horrifyingly, it may be the MOST REALISTIC starter of them all by those metrics.

Do not get me wrong - I agree it is a hell of a coincidence, in fairness. I also think it was fucking stupid Movie 20 made it run like a gorilla than the animators taking the time to look up anything regarding big cats or even ask the devs if they can make its hands and feet look like paws. Buuuuuut this is like, the one time a nu-starter can look/act like a real-life animal inspiration pretty well and have a biological excuse for the wonky proportions, and I'm shocked fandom DIDN'T take to that way more often as an excuse for a quadruped fire starter/tiger mon alike. And by that point "top-heavy tiger with big front paws" in pokemon style isn't worse than "godzilla with super-stubby short limbs" or "fire dragon with a beer gut".

I 'unno, maybe I'm just old enough to say make the nu-starters act like their animal counterparts anyway, even if Incineroar has a better excuse than most to do so.

Shitposting aside, I'm pleasantly shocked the only difference in design from actual Incineroar is it's on four legs. Other redesigns feel way too off. I am also insanely curious on how /vp/ would take it if Incineroar did pull a Typhlosion/Feraligatr and could walk/run on all fours sometimes and not in the faggy way M20 showed, but a relatively believable way. Especially since it ended up quite similar to sabertooth cats in many ways in terms of anatomy.

I sorta agree with you and him both. Having him be able to go on four legs like Feraligatr is nice, and I definitely prefer the capricious asshole the Pokedex entries imply since you expect big cats to be those. But he'd feel too generic if he lost the wrestling gimmick or couldn't get bipedal to fight by this point.
