BW wasn't hated just because you couldn't catch Muh Charizard. Many Unova designs were horrible and felt like either Kanto reboots or Calarts rejects. The removal of things like Secret Bases, Pokemon following you (despite still being used for the Dream World Pokemon), simplification of the region, Gym Leaders and Elite 4 having limited Pokemon and removing exploration in favor of story were notorious flaws of BW. Sure, they were amazing games, but they began some of the most hated trends of the franchise.
Also, funny how you don't mention Reshiran and Zekrom having their own giant garden, chasing and trapping a Pokemon like the Farfetch'd in GSC, the whole Lucario and Blaziken pandering, the many references to every region and not just Kanto. Viridian Forest 2 was probably just to show how old maps would see in 3D; thanks to ORAS, Hoenn got more Mega Evolutions than Kanto, and even gave Unova and Kalos one each; and things like the evil team invading a factory aren't THAT Kanto for me. Is the fact that you find a haunted mansion in a forest a reference to Sinnoh? Is the desert where the Power Plant located a reference to Hoenn or Unova? Is having early access to the elemental monkeys another reference to Unova? Is helping the Abomasnow while being able to rid ea Mamoswine in an extremely snowy area a reference to Sinnoh? Is your rival being the opposite gender a callback to Hoenn?
BW were the games that truly began to kill Pokemon. XY just casualized it, and ORAS gave the final blow. Stop pretending than 3D killed Pokemon when it was already dying way before it.
