Slaking is pretty much a hard counter for "Ash's" Hawlucha. Based not only on Ash's battling style with Hawlucha but also prevents Hawlucha from showing off. Fucking, Truant. It made not be exciting but it's damn effective.
Hopefully, the slug's arrival will dampen Shota's "analysis" as it is the complete opposite of Ash's preferred style, Even if the slug only gets to take down Slurpuff, it should awaken Shota to the fact that he still has more to learn about Ash than the notes he has of him.
