the first shiny i ever saw was a shiny zubat in the cave near the second gym in pokemon ruby. i ran from it like any other zubat without realizing it was a shiny 'til months later. i never found a shiny again until alpha sapphire, but i also never tried to get any. i didn't try in AS either but it happened.
